Considering your foundation portfolio

What skills do you need to further develop?
The skills I need to develop on are mainly filming and editing. Because I did print as my work, I don't have any experience of using the filming and editing software. This is the skill that I am going to need to work on for further work that has to be done.

Considering your foundation portfolio

What do you think your best skills are?
From creating my foundation portfolio, which was print work, I have learned many new skills.
Photoshop- Starting off on my foundation portfolio, I had never used photohop before, now that the work is done I think that using photoshop is now a good skill I have.
Applying knowledge of target audience- One of my best skills is knowing who the target audience is for certain things, from working on the foundation portfolio, I now know how to apply my knowledge to make the best possible outcome.
Creativity- I am quite a creative person which helped a lot with my print work. Working alone made it easier to get my creativity across, because I could do my work in my own way, and using my own creativity.

Exploring music videos

You me at six - Underdog
Genre:Rock
At the start of the video the lighting is red with the band members looking like shadows, the video only lights up when Josh starts to sing, and even then the lighting isn't very bright. The whole band are wearing similar outfits, which are all black t-shirts with the bands clothing range 'down but not out'. The girls ballet outfit is also black to match with the bands clothing. There is a whole story line to the video, which is all about a cheating guy, and a girl who dreams of being a ballet dancer. The video goes back and forth between the story line and the band playing.
Settings: Theatre stage- Used for when the girl is dancing, and also the stage which the band is playing on.
Hallway- Where all of the events of the story line happens. The whole video is quite low budget, which is usually what British bands tend to do.

Exploring music videos

Ed Sheeran- The A team
Genre: Indie/acoustic
The whole video is in black and white, which I think relates to the whole point of the music video, showing a girl that is homeless, and doesn't have a very good life. This makes the video seem like it is very low budget, and it is. The person who sings the song isn't that big at the moment, but from having such a low budget video, he has already created a name for himself in the music industry.
Settings: The park- This is showing the place that the girl lives, which looks like it could be a students work.
The town- Showing her looking into shop windows looking at things that she cannot afford.
Night time in the town- Showing her selling the big issue, which is relating to real life, and how homeless people sell the big issue.
Props: Flowers- Looking at what she can't afford, relating to real life.
Sleeping bag- Showing what she lives in.
Big issue- Relating to people that live on the street.
Make-up- Used when she goes into prostitution.
The actual singer appears in the video, buying a big issue off of the girl. He only appears for about 10 seconds. The whole video is quite emotional which relates to the song lyrics.

Exploring genres and timelines of film trailers

Tangled
Genre: Family
0:08- Showing Finn Rider (male character) being arrested which is near the end of the film, the trailer has been reversed to show the ending at the beginning.
0:20- Showing him running away from the castle guards which is at the beginning of the film. The audience already gets an idea in their head about why he was arrested.
0:44-1:26- Showing when he finds Repunzel near the beginning of the film, this is showing parts that aren't actually in the film.
The whole trailer doesn't give away any story line or plot of the film and mainly shows the first half of the film in the trailer - it also only shows two characters.

Exploring genres and timelines of film trailers

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part two
Genre: Family Fantasy
The beginning of the trailer shows clips from previous Harry Potter films, relating the start of the trailer to the start of the film series.
1:54- Showing the ending but not giving it away. Voldermort and Harry are jumping of the cliff the 'way they started'. The trailer has been reversed and shows the ending in the middle of the trailer.
2:14- Both Voldermort and Harry reach for the magic wand, which look like it is at the end of the film.

Exploring genres and timelines of film trailers

Charlie and the chocolate factory
Genre:Family
0:05- The first clip in the trailer is the first scene of the film, showing the audience what the chocolate factory looks like.
0:26- Showing poster on the street lamp post which is about 15 minutes into the film, I have already noticed a pattern, and that the trailer is in the same time as the actual film.
0:38- Searching for the golden tickets, again near the begginging of the film.
0:55-1:15- Introdducing the children to Willy Wonka, which is in the middle of the film, this is being shown half way through the trailer.
1:58- Showing the two remaining children that are left in the factory. Thisw part of the trailer is giving clues to the ending, which is fairly obvious in the first place.
2:02- Willy Wonka quotes 'only one' which is refering to Charlie. It is an obvious story line but the ending is given away in the trailer.
